Today in the Tribe of Beepis, we decided to try to have our carnivores be on aggressive and wander in our valley now that we closed off all the exits with behemoth gates. We have a lot of wild dinos spawn in our valley and we hoped that the carnivores would be able to feed themselves. Early in the day a T-rex, glitched through the gate and murdered a raptor and two dilos owned by Trailmix. We felt very bad about this, gave him a lot of meat, spoiled meat, narcoberries, and hide. I also took him by air to Stealther, who helped him further. We also took all our carnivores off wander so none could glitch through the gate again. Later in the evening, Gemedet went out to gather meat for our dinos since they weren't able to feed themselves anymore. When he got off the Rex to shut the gate and double check he turned it off aggressive, the T-rex he was riding ran off straight for Trailmix's house and tried to kill his dinos again. Gemedet managed to set the Rex to passive before Trailmix lost any more dinos, but we lost the Rex because of that action. We will be turning off aggressive on all our dinos because if one does get drawn to the gate, it clearly will glitch out and go after Trailmix, but the two accidents have left us with a few thoughts, in hindsight.
1) We think Trailmix set his house too close to our base. A dino can see his house from our gate, so Trailmix will always be in danger of us making a silly misclick that we could have had time to fix if he wasn't so close.
*rephrase: We don't think Trailmix is at fault, but his house was close (since he moved/is moving now this isn't an issue) and we were worried we would make a stupid mistake again that would cause him more suffering.*
2) PvP isn't allowed on the server, and accidents, like today, are bound to happen. Perhaps it is best that the server be turn to PvE to minimize it.
3) There might be PvP loopholes in the argument that it's our fault for having a dino on aggressive. For example, Stealther told me to land my bird away from his Rex. Assuming the reasoning was it was on aggressive, I did as he told. But what if he hadn't and it attacked me? Clearly, I should be able to defend myself. But what if knowing Stealther has an aggressive T-rex I was to get a bunch of dinos to follow me and purposefully aggro his T-rex with intent to kill? Then it's a ban-able offence but people could make a very convincing argument that it was accidental since no one can tell that there was intent.
Also, while It's not a big deal one of our small outposts was raided and the few basic supplies that were stored there were taken. Since it wasn't really anything important to us, I only bring this up as another example of "PvE on a PvP server not working".
We think over all, the server needs to be either PvE so everyone is protected, or PvP and expect PvP to happen.
